Clinical Counsellors

Available for Indigenous youth.
For individual support, our counsellors can meet at UNYA, or in an area of choice in East Vancouver, as long as it’s safe and has a confidential place to talk. Intake counsellor works on Mondays, and will respond to messages and connect you with a counsellor as soon as possible.

Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society

The Recreation program is designed to provide sport and leisure activities for urban aboriginal youth. We aim to provide youth with a positive, supportive, and healthy environment to develop their sport and recreation skills. In doing so, urban aboriginal youth will increase self-esteem, self-awareness, creativeness, physical wellness, and cultural awareness through the exploration of various recreation activities.

Native Youth Health & Wellness Centre

Youth clinic providing culturally relevant, welcoming, accessible health and wellness services to Indigenous youth. You can access the services and support of our Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Counsellors, Elders, and Registered Midwives.

All services, programming, and resources at the youth clinic are free.

Aboriginal Youth Worker

An individual who assists youth with accessing resources and removing barriers, with frequent free programs and workshops available. Programming calendar updates monthly and can be found by following the QR code.

Kettle Society

Recovery Cafe

Location: 637 E. Hastings St
Ages: 19+

 

Whether in crisis, newer to recovery, in long-term recovery, after a relapse, during a difficult life change, or mental health transition, the Café is there as a refuge of support, care and community. Services include recovery circles, free meals, barista training, access to computers/telephones, connection with a Resource Specialist and other members, and access to Kettle Society resources and programs. Bra, Binder, and Breast Forms Exchange

Provides free new and used gender-affirming chest-wear to trans and gender-variant youth who are unable to attain these garments otherwise. Connect through the email to discuss sizing options and how to receive one!

REACH Community Health Centre

Integrated services that range from urgent care, dental, mental health, to pharmaceutical needs. REACH also provides free workshops and programs which cover topics such as grief and loss, depression, and more. They also provide Indigenous services which include an Elder, monthly ceremonies, and culturally relevant care. Residents of the Hastings Sunrise neighbourhood, including the area north of Hastings and East of Commercial Drive, can contact Kiwassa for an emergency food hamper. This program can be accessed once a month and depends on availability. Hampers must be requested by contacting us and we will confirm a time you can pick it up.
